Swim Lessons That Build Confidence Without Bribes or Force

The only extrinsic motivation I use in swim lessons is high fives.
Instead, I focus on the internal: the INTRINSIC motivation. I want my swimmers to feel proud of what they’re accomplishing, not just chase rewards.
My teaching style is MINDSET-FOCUSED. One of my old coaches said swimming is 80% mental and 20% physical, and I’ve found that to be so true.
I’ve spent years studying how psychology ties into swimming and love helping kids transform as they start to believe in themselves.
There’s very little forcing involved. I teach solid foundations and model skills, but ultimately, they choose how they want to swim.
Ironically, that’s why my swimmers often PROGRESS FASTER than they would elsewhere!
This is why I don’t teach ISR. It’s not that I don’t see its value, it’s just not my style. I’d rather focus on connecting with kids and nurturing their confidence.
It’s truly amazing what our minds can do.
