Why I Teach Swimming Differently: No Fear, Just Confidence

Lately, I’ve been paying close attention to some of the bigger swim accounts out there, and honestly, it’s been frustrating. Fear-driven messaging is everywhere, and the same recycled information keeps making the rounds. Worse, there’s little room for discussion. I recently left a supportive comment on a post, hoping to help a struggling mom, only to have it deleted. I was even told I couldn’t share insights that might bring people to my page.

Excuse me, but I thought we were all here to help people.

That experience made me want to be even clearer about what you can expect from me and my approach to swimming:

✅ No Fear-Based Tactics

My goal isn’t to scare you into protecting your child from drowning—though safety is, of course, important. Instead, I focus on helping your child love the water while learning to swim. Confidence and skill go hand in hand, and I want to foster both in your little swimmer.

✅ I’m Not Anti-Floaties for Babies & Toddlers

You’ve probably seen the argument that kids who use floaties will never learn proper swimming. That’s simply not true. While floaties can create habits we may need to adjust, they don’t prevent children from learning to swim. I’ve personally worked with kids who used floaties as toddlers and later became competitive swimmers. I recommend phasing them out around age 3, but regardless of where your child is in their swim journey, they can develop proper technique. And guess what? It’s not that hard to fix.

✅ A Different Approach = Different Results

Swimming techniques are the same, but teaching methods vary—and that’s where I stand out. Many families come to me after traditional swim lessons haven’t worked for them. I won’t claim to be the best, but I see real progress—not just in kids, but in parents gaining confidence, too.

✅ I Welcome Discussion

I know some of my content is controversial. Disagree with me? No problem! Let’s have a respectful conversation. I believe in empowering parents to make the best decisions for their families, not pushing a one-size-fits-all approach.

✅ Real Technique Through Play

By age 3, children can start learning proper swimming techniques like streamline positioning and kicking with straight legs. But learning doesn’t have to be rigid—we incorporate play while building a foundation for real swimming success.

✅ More Fun, More Confidence

My ultimate goal? For your child to be the life of the pool party—jumping, splashing, playing games, and swimming with confidence.

I might share ideas you don’t agree with, and that’s okay! You get to decide what works best for your family. But if you’re here because you want to teach your child to swim without fear or frustration, you’re in the right place.

Let’s do this together!
